Did you know that the Django, the open-source Python web framework, was named after Belgian jazz guitarist and composer, Django Reinhardt?ππ½

I used to listen to his music a lot, and since I’ve been using Django (framework) for my latest Lonely Octopus project, I’ve added Django (musician) back into my Spotify playlist.β¨πΆ
Django Reinhardt has quite an interesting story of resilience. At the tender age of 18, he was caught in a serious fire in his caravan and two fingers on his left hand were paralyzed. TWO. WHOLE. FINGERS.ποΈ
Now, for most guitarists, or people in general, this would be likeβ¦ game over for any passion projects requiring all ten handy digits. But Django? Oh no, honey. He said, “Watch me work!”
Instead of giving up, this absolute legend developed a whole new way of playing guitar using only two fingers for solos, and just, you know, casually revolutionizing jazz guitar, nbd.
Django’s new style wasn’t just “good considering the circumstances” – he created sounds that nobody had ever heard before. He turned his setback into his signature move and his influence is still felt today. Countless guitarists have tried to copy his style, but there was only one, eight-fingered Django. A lesson that sometimes our biggest setbacks can lead to our greatest comebacks.
I’ll try to remember this inspo when I get the 1,627th error while deep in a coding sesh. On that note, I’m off to finish my Lonely Octopus full stack dev portfolio project…with all ten fingers (and toes), thank goodness.π»π΅
